The Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Air Advisor Academy dedicated the Air Advisor Memorial to the NATO ATC/A nine in a ceremony hosted on 27 July 2012. The memorial was initially created to honor the nine Air Advisors (eight service members and one contractor) killed in a gun attack in Kabul on 27 April 2011.
Since the dedication, the Air Advisor community has continued to honor those Advisors who have paid the ultimate sacrifice by placing their names upon the wall.
On 27 April each year, the names of the fallen are read aloud, accompanied by a ring from the Ceremonial Bell for each fallen Advisor.
Annually, a remembrance ceremony is held at the Air Advisor Academy where each name is spoken and a subsequent bell ring echoes for each member lost.
