Major David L. Brodeur was an Auburn, Massachusetts native, graduating with honors from Auburn High in 1994. His prowess in academics was just the tip of the iceberg for Maj. Brodeur, who participated in several sports and had leadership roles in multiple programs. The USAF took notice and Maj Brodeur entered the United States Air Force Academy in 1995. Graduating in 1999 with a degree in Political Science, he pressed on to earn a Master of Business Administration Management and completed Air Command Staff College. In April 2001, he graduated from pilot training, finishing off with F-16 Fighter training afterwards. He continued to excel and became an F-16 instructor, Flight Commander, and Weapon ADO for the 18th Aggressor Squadron.

In 2011, Maj. Brodeur was serving as an advisor to the Afghan Command and Control Center under NATO Air Training Command in Kabul, Afghanistan. Sadly, on the morning of 27 April 2011, a helicopter pilot for the Afghan Air Force pulled a pistol from his flight suit and opened fire, resulting in Maj. Brodeur, seven other service members, and one civilian contractor being killed in the line of duty.

Major David L. Brodeur was survived by his wife of 11 years, Susan, and his two children, Elizabeth and David.

Thank you, sir.
