As written by Susan Howell:

“Major Mark Todd was born in Houston, Texas on February 15, 1963. After graduating from the Air Force Academy, he completed pilot training and served as a T-38 Flight Instructor before transitioning to the F-16C. He was assigned to the 14th Fighter Squadron in Misawa, Japan where he excelled as a pilot and flight commander. In February of 1995 Capt. Todd reported to the 6th Special Operations Squadron at Hurlburt Field where he served with pride and distinction as the “C Flight” Commander.

On March 6th, 1996, Maj Todd became the first member of the 6 SOS to die while serving his country on active duty when the Cessna 0-2 Skymaster crashed during a combat search and rescue training mission in the mountains of El Salvador.  Mark was the on-board advisor in the back of the aircraft instructing two El Salvadoran pilots who also died in the accident.

Maj Todd is survived by his wife, Susan Howell, and two sons, Zachary and Alex.”

Thank you, sir.
