Master Sergeant Gregory Kuhse was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan and ran the town (at least in track) from his youth through high school. He even held the local middle school 800-meter record for his lifetime. His resolve to excel and blaze trails didn’t end with athletics. MSgt Kuhse proudly swore into the Air Force to serve his country, blazing to the rank of Master Sergeant. With over 19 years of service as an information resources manager and manpower analyst, MSgt Kuhse strived to impact the lives of everyone he met by providing mentorship and support. MSgt Kuhse strived for excellence in all he did, truly embodying the Airman spirit.
In 2015, while MSgt Kuhse was serving as an Advisor in Afghanistan as part of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, when a British Puma Mk2 helicopter crashed while landing at the headquarters of the NATO Resolute Support Mission, which was training Afghan security forces, resulting in his death in the line of duty.
Master Sergeant Gregory Kuhse was survived by his wife, Torri Kuhse, his daughters, Madeline and Eliana, his sons, Tristan and Caleb, his mother, Linda, his brothers, Michael and Brian, his sister, Patricia, and his grandmother, Betty Jacoby.
